Renovation of a detention facility in Norfolk, Massachusetts. Completed plans call for the renovation of a detention facility.

Coating-Painting Sub Bid Deleading Contractor Qualification DCAMM Certificate Required for DCAMM contracts over $150,000, Highway Division contracts over $50,000. This project work consists of RCRA-8 abatement and preparing existing steel exterior fire escapes and their cage enclosures and refinishing them with a two-part coating system at Dormitory Buildings #3, #4 and #7. The fire escapes and cage enclosures shall be abrasive blasted to remove existing paint, rust, and any other contaminants, creating a clean foundation for the new coating system. The contractor shall abrasive blast and prime coat exposed steel on the same day. The contractor shall provide watertight containment satisfactory to the painting sub-bidder. The contractor shall thoroughly clean the containment area after each blasting session removing all debris prior to applying any coatings. All coatings shall be applied within the containment. The contractor shall guarantee optimal adhesion for the refinishing system, which consists of an industrial-duty protective primer coating followed by an industrial-duty topcoat. The housing units must be evacuated by the Facility before abrasive blasting and reoccupied upon receiving lab verified clean air sampling reports from the DOC's vendor from the last day of abrasive blasting. Lab results, evacuating and reoccupying the housing units may take up to forty-eight hours. The facility will evacuate up to two housing units at a time. Refer to drawing FE2 for fire escape phasing. Refer to Appendix B for RCRA-8 survey reports for specific locations of identified RCRA-8 metal containing paint. Refer to Appendix J for coating system. The work shall be completed so as to meet all requirements of the Contract Documents, including, but not limited to, the plans and specifications for M.C.I. Norfolk Fire Escape Abrasive Blasting in Norfolk, MA. Refer to Section 012300 Alternates and Section 024100 Demolition for work at the OIC Building, Gatehouse and Vocational Education Building
