Future upgrades to University of Toronto St. George Campus. The future scope may include an alteration, addition or capital repair. The University of Toronto is committed to the pursuit of excellence in design and delivery of projects to the stated budget. The University is also of the view that beyond architectural expression, excellence in design extends to all aspects of professional services, including best practices in the engineering disciplines, thoroughness and completeness of contract and construction documentation, and responsibility to the project budget and schedule. Proponents are encouraged to consider these aspects of project delivery when assembling their teams and submitting their proposal. Developing a strategy for carrying out a Public Space Public Life Study at select locations throughout the St. George Campus;
Conducting the Public Space Public Life Study;
Working collaboratively with the University Public & Stakeholder Engagement Consultant engaged to develop a Public & Stakeholder Engagement Strategy;
Working collaboratively with the University's consultant engaged to develop a Public Realm Plan for the St. George Campus as part of the UTSG CMP Project, by refining the PSPL survey strategy to effectively draw out useful insights from the PSPLS to support the development of the Public Realm Plan;
Preparing and presenting interim and final Public Space Public Life Study reports that respond to the main objectives of the assignment; and General Project Management tasks (i.e. meeting minutes, invoicing, etc.) related to the successful delivery of the PSPLS.
The Proponent should be a qualified professional with expertise in urban design and/or urban planning research with previous experience conducting PSPL studies and the capabilities to gather both qualitative and quantitative data that can be drawn upon for public space public life benchmarking. The empirical information gathered as part of the PSPLS is intended to highlight strengths and shortcomings of the campus public realm, and to aid drawing out tangible recommendations for enhancements and initiatives that a visionary Public Realm Plan within the new UTSG CMP will build on.
This RFP contains some focused public engagement work. The successful Consultant under this RFP will be required to collaborate with the Public Engagement Consultant (Team 1), responsible for developing an overall engagement and communication strategy for the UTSG CMP.
Proponents will also collaborate with the Public Realm Plan consultant team (Team 3) wherever possible from the point onward when both consultant teams are onboarded. Official bid documents must be obtained from www.merx.com and bid submissions must be done through the Merx platform.
