Work anticipated to be performed under this contract is as follows: o Clearing, grubbing, and structure excavation o Installing high visibility fence and compost sock o Remove pavement, curb and gutter, pipe, and guardrail o Paving with hot mix asphalt (including roadway pavement and asphalt raised edge) o Constructing storm drainage improvements o Filling existing ditches with gravel borrow, topsoil, and quarry spalls o Installing channelization and bollards o Installing cement concrete sidewalk and curb and gutter o And all incidental items necessary to complete the Work as described in the Plans and Specifications. Bidders are not to contact the City of Des Moines or the Engineer to obtain Bid Documents. The Engineer's estimated cost is in the range of $1,700,000 to $2,100,000 *The value for this project is based on a financial range. All bid proposals shall be accompanied by a bid proposal deposit in cash, certified check, cashier's check, postal money order, or bid bond made payable to the City of Des Moines in an amount not less than five percent (5%) of the amount of such bid proposal. Bid bonds shall be in a form satisfactory to the City Attorney. Should the successful bidder fail to enter into such contract and furnish satisfactorily the bond within the time stated in the specifications, the bid proposal deposit will be forfeited to the City of Des Moines. The City reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities in the bidding and to make the award as deemed to be in the best interest of the City. No bidder may withdraw their bid for a period of sixty (60) days after the date set for the bid opening.
