Demolition, site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Athens, Texas. Completed plans call for the demolition of a fire / police facility; for site work for a fire / police facility; sidewalk / parking lot; and for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot.
As of 10/10/2024, this project has not yet been awarded. It is going to council for approval soon. " Old Police & City Hall Building Demolition. PROJECT IDENTIFICATION: The project consists of the complete demolition of the old Police and City Hall building. The Old Police & City Hall Building is a 9,623 sf building that will be completely demolished and will include some site demo, including but not limited to paving, retaining walls and some asphalt parking. QUESTIONS: Submit all questions about the Drawings and Specifications to the Architect in writing. Replies will be issued to all bidders of record as addenda to the Drawings and Specifications and will become part of the Contract. The Architect and Owner will not be responsible for oral clarification. Questions received less than 48 hours before the Bid Opening cannot be answered. The Contractor shall identify his bid on the outside of the envelope by writing the name of his company or corporation and the name of the project. Bids shall be accompanied by a cashier's check or certified check upon a national or state bank in an amount not less than five percent (5%) of the total maximum bid price payable without recourse to the City of Athens, or a bid bond in the same amount from a reliable surety company, as a guarantee that the bidder will enter into a contract and execute Performance Bond within ten (10) days after notice of award of contract to him. BID SECURITY: Bidders must submit with their bids a Cashier's Check in the amount of 5% of the maximum amount bid, payable without recourse to the Owner or a Proposal Bid Bond in the same amount from a reliable Surety Company as guarantee that the Bidder will enter into a contract and execute bond and guarantee forms provided within ten (10) days after receipt of notice of award. The Owner reserves the right to retain the security of the next two lowest bidders until the low bidder enters into contract or until forty-five (45) days after bid opening, whichever comes first. All other bid security will be returned as soon as practicable. If any bidder refuses to enter into a contract, the Owner will retain his bid security as liquidated damages, but not as a penalty. PERFORMANCE BOND AND PAYMENT BOND: The Contractor will be required to furnish surety bonds guaranteeing the faithful performance of the work and the payment of all obligations arising thereunder, each in the penal sum of one hundred percent (100%) of the Contract Sum. The premiums for such bonds shall be paid by Contractor. Each bond shall be signed by the Contractor as principal and by an established bonding company approved by the Owner, as surety, and shall be accompanied by appropriate power-ofattorney clearly establishing the extent and limitations of the authority of each signer to so sign, where the work is performed and to whom any requisite notices may be delivered and on whom service of process may be had in matters arising out of such suretyship. All bonds shall be made on form complying with the requirements of the laws of the State where work is to be executed. Bonds shall be executed to include one year guarantee requirements on the work. CONTRACT TIME: The time (allotted for the completion of all items of work) shall begin on the tenth (10th) day after the issuance of the "Notice to Proceed." The right is reserved by the City of Athens, Texas, as the interest of the City may require, to reject any and all bids, and to waive any informality in bids received.
