Site work and renovation of a pre-engineered storage facility in Santa Cruz, California. Completed plans call for the renovation of a pre-engineered storage facility; and for site work for a pre-engineered storage facility.
BACKGROUND The Santa Cruz Port District (Port District), which operates the Santa Cruz Harbor, will be required to relocate approximately 45 kayaks and rowing sculls from the area of FF-Dock prior to the commencement of the City of Santa Cruz's Murray Street Bridge Seismic Retrofit & Barrier Rail Project in January 2025. To facilitate the required vessel relocations, the Port District is seeking proposals for the construction of a permanent, pre-engineered metal canopy structure and associated site work, as shown on the "Boat Rack Storage" plan sheets CS402, S-504, S-507, and S-508, by TranSystems dated December 1, 2023. Proposals shall indicate pricing for all associated labor, materials, and construction of the permanent metal canopy structure. The contractor is not responsible for any vessel relocations as part of this project. All proposals shall include a minimum of three references from commercial or governmental clients. References shall include the name and phone number of a contact person that is knowledgeable about the contractor's work. This is a prevailing wage project. The engineer's estimate for the project is $125,000. The Port District anticipates awarding a contract to the most qualified and responsive bidder. The contract will not be awarded solely on the basis of the lowest pricing contained in the proposal. A sample contract including the Port District's insurance requirements is attached for reference. Bid, performance, payment and maintenance bonds are not required. The Port District reserves the right to reject all proposals, or to negotiate rates with any qualified contractor. All contractors shall include in their submittal: 1. Transmittal Letter: Indicate who will be the Port District's primary contact, a summary of contractor qualifications and that the proposal will be valid for one hundred and twenty (120) days. 2. Completed and signed Official Proposal Form. 3. A list of three (3) references that the District may contact in order to assist in the evaluation of past performance. 4. Experience: List your years of experience providing similar procurement services. Indicate years of experience providing products to government agencies. 5. Contractor's Licensing Requirements: Class A or B Port Director Holland MacLaurie will serve as the primary contact for the project. Contractor shall indicate one point of contact for the resulting construction contract who can fulfill requirements listed in the Scope of Services section below. The Santa Cruz Port District invites qualified contractors to submit a proposal for construction of a pre-engineered metal canopy structure and associated sitework as described in the plans by TranSystems dated December 1, 2023. The proposal shall include pricing for all labor, construction and materials based on government-project prevailing wage rates in accordance with the State of California Department of Industrial Relations. The Port District will provide parking for a limited number of construction vehicles and a staging area on the west side. The City of Santa Cruz, as part of the Murray Street Bridge Seismic Retrofit & Barrier Rail Project, has obtained all permits for this work. The project excludes the following work, which will be provided by the Port District: 1. Relocation of all vessels. 2. Construction of kayak storage racks, which will be placed under the canopy structure. The term of this agreement shall commence on (TBD) and expire on (TBD), with the option to renew for two, one-year terms upon mutual agreement of both parties, unless otherwise terminated as provided herein.
