Saving Project...
Site work for a water / sewer project in Houston, British Columbia. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
The District of Houston (the "District") is seeking experienced Contractors to work with the district to upgrade the Bymac boat launch. The districts boat launch to the Morice River at Bymac Park has issues with sedimentation. The boat launch is in a constructed off-channel bay where the water is calm, and the banks are steeper to allow for boat launching. The off-channel design results in suspended sediments depositing in the area of calm water. The Morice River is a popular salmon fishing river, and Bymac Park is a convenient access point that also provides camping. The ever-changing of the Morice River and the design of the boat launch created conditions that lead to regular infilling of sediments that render the boat launch unusable without regular dredging. When the boat launch is unusable, people access the river from the shallow shoreline upstream of the boat launch. The boat launch improvements are expected to result in reduced silt accumulation to keep the boat launch operational. The boat launch improvements are proposed in an already disturbed area to minimize impacts to riparian vegetation, and include features to reduce silt accumulation (i.e., riprap wings placed at the bay inlet) The District of Houston is planning to reconstruct the boat launch into the Morice River at Bymac Park. The current embayed launch will be upgraded by installing an 18.3 m long by 4.9 m wide closed cell concrete mattress and placing rip rap wings at the upstream and downstream sides of the bay inlet along the natural edge of the Morice River (see Appendix A) The existing armouring around the boat launch bay will need to be temporarily removed to tie in the improvements. The boat launch improvements will be installed at the same depth as the existing launch with only minor excavating to widen the launch to 7.2m. The boat launch will have a permanent footprint of 192 m2 consisting of: concrete mats (132 m2), 100kg riprap (20 m2) and 250kg riprap (40 m2). Vegetation clearing is expected to be limited to 18 m2 of deciduous trees and shrubs, and 50 m2 of grass. Question Deadline 08/16/2024
