Demolition, site work, paving and new construction of a bridge / tunnel in San Andreas, California. Design plans call for the demolition of a bridge / tunnel; for the construction of a bridge / tunnel; for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and for paving for a bridge / tunnel.

This Project consists of construction of a new, wider bridge to replace the existing bridge (built in 1930). The approach roadway will be reconstructed to connect the existing roadway with the new bridge. The Federal Highway Bridge Program along with Toll Credits provide reimbursable funds for 100 percent of eligible Project costs. Due to nationwide funding impacts to the Highway Bridge Program (HBP), it is unclear when Caltrans will prioritize this project. The project is shown for construction beyond FY 2027-28 This project is included in the Calaveras County's FY 2026/27 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). As of August 21, 2025, design is 95% complete. The awarded general contractor has been identified. Construction is scheduled to begin June 2027. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
