Site work and paving for a civil project in Bethel, Vermont. Completed plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.

As of September 30, 2024 project was awarded to BHallstrom Excavating LLC, but awarded amount is not available. The Town of Bethel is accepting proposals to replace two steel culverts on Camp Brook Road. They will be replaced with steel. Culvert #5 is an 18" x 80' steel culvert, that will be replaced with a 24" x 80' steel culvert. It is located at 672 Camp Brook Road. Culvert #23 is a 15" x 50' steel culvert that will be replaced with an 18" x 50' steel culvert. It is located between 2212 Camp Brook Road and 2398 Camp Brook Road. Culvert #5 GPS: 43.855312 /-72.659619 Culvert #23 GPS: 43.844262 /-72.684043 Culverts are marked out with stake and survey tape. Camp Brook road is a paved Federal Highway, and as such will require trench patching. This will require 16" of dense grade stone, 8" of fine crushed gravel with compaction in 1' lifts. Pavement is required to be a 2 1/2" base course of Type II bituminous concrete, with a wearing course of 1 1/2" Type III bituminous concrete for the overlay. Contractors shall furnish all materials, labor and equipment necessary to complete the job to noted standards, and to dispose of the debris/material in these segments in accordance with the State of Vermont act 64 Municipal General Road Permit standards. They will also be responsible for traffic control and adhering to all MUTCD Standards. One lane must remain open. Proposals shall, at a minimum, accomplish the following Minimum Scope of Work: Culvert Installation: 1. Minimize disturbance to the natural system and surrounding land and install sandbag darns in the stream and use a pump, with riprap placed at the discharge, to convey the water around the excavation, if necessary. 2. Excavate the culvert area; remove and dispose of old culvert. 3. The bottom width of the culvert trench should be twice the width of the culvert, with sidewalls no steeper than 1:1. Excavate 10 feet downstream of the culvert discharge to a depth of 18" for riprap. Use erosion control precautions. 4. Lay pipe up slope, starting at outlet end. 5. The longitudinal profile should be set at the same slope as the natural stream gradient. 6. A minimum of 24" of fill over a culvert is required. 16" of dense grade stone and 8" of fine crushed gravel with compaction in 1' lifts. 7. Place 12 inch minus riprap in the excavated outlet area tamping it level with the stream bottom. 8. Hydroseed or seed and mulch, all disturbed gravel areas. 9. Trench patch over both areas. Pavement must be a 2 1/4" base course of Type II bituminous concrete with a wearing course of 1 1/2" Type III bituminous concrete for the overlay, to a width of approximately 4' by 27 feet in length over each culvert. (This measurement will depend on how the contractor excavates.) The chosen Contractor will work under the direction of the Road Foreman. Invoicing shall be for work satisfactorily completed and paid per bid sheet. The chosen Contractor shall warranty materials and workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date of completion. The Contractor or their subcontractor shall complete all remedial/warranty work at no additional cost to the Town within 60 days of any such order to repair. Work shall be completed no later than Thursday, October 3, 2024 Proposals shall be submitted on the form provided and must be signed by the Contractor or his authorized representative. The Town reserves the right: 1. to accept or reject any or all Proposals in whole or in part and to accept other than the lowest price proposal; 2. to amend, modify, or withdraw this Request for Proposals; 3. to require supplemental statements or information from proposers; 4. to extend the deadline for responses to this Request for Proposals; 5. to waive or correct any irregularities in Proposals received, after prior notice to the proposers; 6.
