Project Description: This contract is for Brush Clearing at Multiple PUD properties as set forth in these Specifications. Except as otherwise noted herein, the CONTRACTOR shall provide the supervision, labor, materials, equipment, and supplies required to Brush Clearing multiple PUD sites once per year. CONTRACTOR QUALIFICATIONS CONTRACTORS who have recently had landscape contracts terminated by the DISTRICT for poor performance shall not be eligible to bid on this RFP for a period of three (3) years from receipt of termination letter. All requests for clarification or additional information regarding this RFP must be submitted to the District via e-mail to bids@snopud.com. The District will not guarantee responses to questions received via other forms of communication (phone, voicemail, text, IM, etc.). Do not submit questions via Public Purchase DESCRIPTION OF WORK This work involves cutting down unwanted vegetation such as undergrowth and invasive weeds, Cutting up fallen trees and limbs up to 12" in caliper, and pruning of desirable trees and shrubs. Prior to beginning work, the PUD Project Leader will identify desirable native plants and shrubs NOT to be cut to the ground. Undergrowth and invasive weeds shall be cut to the ground. Great care shall be taken to protect the bark and trunk of desirable trees and shrubs during the brush clearing work. Trees and taller shrubs identified to be left in place shall be pruned to create a 5' open space above the ground. Horticulturally correct pruning cuts to protect the branch collar of trees is required. No cut material shall be left in piles. All cut material shall be a maximum of 12" in length. LOCATION OF WORK All work related to this project is in Snohomish County. Specific information about each of the Brush Clearing locations is in attachments A and B. EXAMINATION OF SITES The CONTRACTOR shall inspect and become familiar with the project sites and existing conditions before starting work. The PUD Project lead is available to answer questions about the work before and during the project. FIRE PREVENTION Required fire control equipment: o One ABC fire extinguisher on each mower/skid steer. (Minimum size, 2-1/2 LB (1.13 KG) o One 5-gallon water can per crew. (Spray distance capacity 25', .75gpm, Integrated combo nozzle) located within eyesight of current work area.
