NIST request BR193-45 Window Requirement Window Repair/Replacement Requirements Contract SCOPE OF WORK (SOW) Background: The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is a Bureau within the U.S. Department of Commerce. The NIST Gaithersburg, Maryland Campus encompasses 579 acres and includes over 60 Buildings. There are thousands of window systems on site, and when issues arise, they need to be addressed promptly to prevent further damage. Objectives: The NIST intends to award a contract to a single vendor to provide support services such as repairs, maintenance, and/or glass replacements to existing window systems located at the NIST Gaithersburg, Maryland campus. The Contractor shall have the ability to provide a variety of window system work such as repairs or replacements of glass windows, storefronts, exterior and interior sealant, glazing beads, window trim, window gaskets, shims, and any other window system-related items. Scope: The Contractor shall be responsible for providing all required management, training, licensed personnel, labor, materials, equipment, tools, protective equipment, and other items needed to accomplish the work described in this solicitation. All work shall be in conformance with the requirements of the contract and manufacturer recommendations. All work shall be in compliance with Federal, State, and Local requirements, as well as OSHA 1926 Safety and Health Regulations for Construction. Task 1 The following is a list of tasks necessary to remove and replace existing exterior window sealant at window stacks of the General Purpose Laboratory buildings 220, 221, 224, 225, and 226. The window stacks are 3 stories tall and run from the 1st floor up to the Attic Louvers. The specific stacks are associated to the following Building/Room numbers: B220/RmB328, B221/RmB366, B221/RmA323, B221/RmA327, B221/RmA363, B224/RmB324, B224/RmB350, B224/RmB338, B225/Rooms A303 - A325, B226/RmB364, B226/RmB366, B226/RmB368, and B226/Rm370. This list is not an all-inclusive list of every sub-task necessary but is intended to document the more major tasks necessary for this project for bidding purposes. 1. Submit Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA) for each task of the work to COR for approval. 2. Completely remove all existing metal to masonry sealant and install new sealant and backer rod along the entire perimeter of the window stack. The total length to be removed and replaced per window stack is 80 linear feet. 3. Remove existing metal flashing joint caps at the top of window stacks, just below attic louvers. Completely remove all existing sealant in joints under metal cap and install new sealant between all metal joints. Reinstall metal flashing cap and seal with silicone sealant. Total length to be removed and replaced is 2 linear feet. 4. Completely remove all existing metal to metal sealant and install new sealant between all joints of all insulated metal panels of the window stack. Total length to be removed and replaced per window stack is 70 linear feet. 5. Clear and ensure existing weeps at bottom of lower insulated panel of the window stack are open for drainage. Total number of weeps per window stack is two (2). 6. Completely remove all existing window glazing compound/putty (cap bead) between the glass windowpane and the metal frame and install new window glazing around the perimeter of each windowpane of the window stack. Total length to be removed and replaced per window stack is 80 linear feet. Place of Performance The National Institute of Standards and Technology at its main campus located at 100 Bureau Drive, Gaithersburg, Maryland. Period of Performance The Period of Performance shall be 365 days from the date of notice to proceed OR until funds are exhausted. Scope: The Contractor shall be responsible for providing all required management, training, licensed personnel, labor, materials, equipment, tools, protective equipment, and other items needed to accomplish the work described in this solicitation. All work shall be in conformance with the requirements of the contract and manufacturer recommendations. All work shall be in compliance with Federal, State, and Local requirements, as well as OSHA 1926 Safety and Health Regulations for Construction.
