Renovation of a municipal facility in Nome, Alaska. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.
As of September 24, 2025, all bids were rejected. There are no plans to move forward at this time. The principal elements of work will include 1. Provide all labor, equipment, and materials as necessary to prepare and refinish the existing flooring at the Old St. Joseph's Church located at 216 W. King Place in Nome, Alaska as shown in these Contract Documents. The City of Nome intends to hire an experienced contractor to make improvements to the existing wood flooring of the Old St. Joseph's Church (aka: Old St. Joe's) which is now used as a community hall. A hazardous materials assessment has been performed at the facility (Division IX.) and no hazardous materials are anticipated to be impacted by this project. Bidders must be licensed contractors with the State of Alaska. The City of Nome reserves the right to reject any and all bids, to waive informalities, and to reject non-conforming, non-responsive, or conditional bids. All bidders shall submit a cashier's check or a bid bond in the amount of five percent (5%) of the bid. Bid Bond to be underwritten by a surety qualified to issue bonds in the State of Alaska guaranteeing the signing of the contract for construction in the amount of the bid. Question Deadline 09/03/2024 at 5:00 PM AKT Any explanation desired by bidders regarding the meaning or interpretation of the Drawings and Specifications must be requested in writing to the City Engineer. Questions should be addressed to the City Engineer, John Blees by email jblees@bristol-companies.com. The date of Substantial Completion shall be on, or before, November 15, 2024. Final Completion shall be achieved by November 29, 2024. Failure by the Contractor to meet the Substantial Completion dates will result in assessment of $500 per day in liquidated damages by the Owner.
