The work consists of repairing and mitigating sinkholes occurring since 2017 along the south side and at the southwest corner of the underground clear water reservoir at DWM's Eugene Sawyer Water Purification Plant (ESWPP), located at 3300 East Cheltenham Place, Chicago, Illinois. The work shall be performed by installing low mobility grout (LMG) from the ground surface along two grout lines, approximately 2.5 feet and 5.0 feet from the edge of the reservoir footing. The two grout lines will be installed using a temporary concrete slab-on-grade work platform to facilitate drilling and grouting operations. The work also includes a test grouting program; an instrumentation and monitoring program; removal of 4-inch underdrain tiles on top of the reservoir and upsize to 6-inch; removal and replacement of 6-inch sewer line; installation of a new 8-inch sewer line and catch basin; installation of backflow prevention systems at the existing 36-inch and 10-inch stormwater outfalls; road, curb, and gutter restoration; backfilling of existing sinkholes; and performance of other work as specified in the Contract Documents and as shown on the Drawings.
