Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Arlington, Virginia. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; sidewalk / parking lot; transportation facility; and transportation facility.
The Transitway Extension to Pentagon City Segment IIA project is along 12th Street South in Crystal City between South Eads Street and Fern Street South. This project will have a center running designated bus only lane. Two new Transit Stations are proposed, both are located at the 12th Street South and South Elm Street intersection. The construction will include a near level center running boarding platform, detectable warning surfaces, ADA accessibility features, prefabricated bus shelters, amenities such as benches, bike racks and trash receptacles and street improvements. A concrete bus pad will replace existing asphalt roadway pavement for the transitway to accommodate the additional loading in this area. The entire project area will include restriping to accommodate the bus lanes and new traffic patterns. In addition to the Segment IIA project, there will be associated work with the Segment I project. The Transitway Extension to Pentagon City Segment I project is located on 12th Street S and Crystal Drive between Long Bridge Drive and 15th Street. The work will include but not limited to; installation of rub rails and flag sign at two stations, installation of County owned signs, and pavement markings.
