Notification of Prequalified Contractors: All Prospective Tunnel Contractors Will Be Notified by Friday, October 4, 2024, if They Have Been Prequalified and Approved to Submit a Bid on the Project. The Central Utah Water Conservancy District (District) is releasing this Request for Qualifications (RFQ) packet for tunnel subcontractors to submit their prequalification statements for the Alpine Aqueduct Reach 1 Replacement and Resiliency Project (Project). The tunnel contractor will work as a subcontractor to the AA-1 Project general contractor. The submittal requirements for prequalification statement and the evaluation criteria are included herein. Response to this packet is to prequalify tunnel subcontractors for the Project. The Project is needed to replace and realign a segment of the existing Alpine Aqueduct Reach 1, a federal facility located in Orem, Utah, due to ongoing geological hazards. The Project is approximately 6,090-foot long pipeline and will include welded steel pipe up to 108 inches in diameter, cement lined with tape and mortar coating, 600 feet of 102.7-inch diameter Hazard Resilient Ductile Iron Pipe (HRDIP) at two Wasatch Fault crossings, two 108-inch x 90-inch connections to the existing Alpine Aqueduct Reach 1 Pipeline, street excavation and restoration, utility relocations, and appurtenant pipeline facilities. The Project also includes the construction of a 960-foot long tunnel with a 65-foot vertical shaft constructed with a raised bore. The tunnel also has a 250-foot radius turn in it which requires a drill and blast tunneling construction. The Project is planned to bid in the late summer/early fall 2024, with an award in October 2024 contingent upon right of way acquisitions. The design and construction of Project is being managed by the District under agreements with the U.S. Department of the Interior-Central Utah Water Project Completion Act Office (CUPCA Office).
