Site work for a civil project in Pensacola, Florida. Completed plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and water / sewer project.
The intent of this project is to provide flood mitigation improvements on Deerfield Dr. in order to not overtop the roadway during stormwater events up to and including the 100-year events, while ensuring that the improvements do not adversely impact upstream and downstream properties from the upper limit of the project, at 4510 Deerfield Drive, to the bridge at Wilde Lake Boulevard to the south. Box Culverts on the north side of Deerfield Dr. running from West to East on will then turn south under the road, and discharge into a concrete ditch. Scope of Work The subject area is a low lying section of Deerfield Drive in the Lakeside Drive Estates, a subdivision located off of Klondike Road which falls within Escambia County's Eleven Mile Creek Basin. More specifically, a drainage ditch located in an easement between 4510 and 4520 Deerfield Drive conveys water to the north right-of-way where three culverts direct runoff under Deerfield Drive where water eventually discharges into a private pond located at 4671 Deerfield Drive. The existing conveyance system under Deerfield Drive is easily overwhelmed for even mild storm events, resulting in flood stages that cover large portions of private property and overtop Deerfield Drive. The purpose of the project is to identify the causes of substandard performance and provide recommendations for improvements to reduce flood stages for 24-hour design storms up to the 100-year event. The capacity of the Deerfield Drive conveyance system was increased in order to reduce the flood stage condition on the north side of the road. The proposed solution includes the installation one (1) - 4' x 8' precast concrete box culvert along the north side of Deerfield Drive which then turns underneath the road which connects to a new concrete channel that routes runoff around the private pond, and directly to the wooded area (previously Lake for Lakewood Estates). The existing culverts will remain in place for secondary discharge control. Contact Information Buzz Roggenbuck Sr. Procurement Coordinator 213 S.
