Reference Number 00004245077 MiWay is seeking to undertake an operational safety assessment of Westwood Mall Transit Terminal. Westwood Terminal is located in north-east Mississauga and is serviced by 11 MiWay routes, 1 TTC route and 3 Brampton Transit routes. MiWay currently leases the Westwood Terminal property from a private developer that is redeveloping the adjacent mall property. In order to accommodate future tenants, the developer has proposed to redevelop the small parking lot adjacent to the terminal into a loading dock. The purpose of the operational safety assessment is to evaluate existing conditions and identify all safety risks associated with the current transit operations and design of the terminal and future design according to developer plans. The study will include a review of bus frequency and circulation within the terminal, pedestrian circulation and activity, bus and truck swept paths within the terminal, AODA compliance, and recommendations for site improvements to resolve identified conflict points and safety risks in the current state and identify risks and mitigations with the proposed state. The recommendations will also include an assessment of the risk profile and feasibility of the shared use proposal and the measures and controls that would need to be implemented to mitigate all risks. The tasks include a Terminal Conditions and Bus and Pedestrian Circulation Review, a Shared-Use Feasibility Review, and a Terminal Recommendations Report.
