Summary Mt. San Antonio College is requesting qualifications from experienced contractors to provide services for the removal and trimming of trees throughout the college on an as-needed basis. The purpose of this on-call services agreement is to provide the Mt. San Antonio College with the best possible removal services, and to allow the college to quickly respond to tree removal needs. This contract is for five years. Project Description: The Contractor shall furnish adequate labor crew, all equipment, and tools necessary or required to safely and efficiently complete assigned tree trimming, or removal projects. The Contractor must designate an individual as the crew supervisor who shall be responsible for the crew's activities to accomplish the assigned work. The Contractor shall perform all work in accordance with the latest government safety regulations, including but not limited to, all CA Department of Labor and Workforce performance & Federal OSHA regulations and suggested practices. All tree trimming and root pruning will be in accordance with the most recent version of the American national Standard institution ANSI Z133.1 Tree Care Operations, and ANSI A-300 pruning and Removal Specifications with special emphasis given to the requirement that only qualified line-clearing trimmers be assigned to work where a potential electrical hazard exists. Hazardous Tree Removal Only the designated hazardous trees shall be trimmed or removed, unless otherwise directed by Mt. San Antonio College. Before any tree is cut down, the tree shall be completely "topped" in an accepted manner approved by Mt. San Antonio College, or their designee to protect all utilities, public and private properties. The Contractor shall be responsible for removing branches, foliage, etc., from the construction site as soon as the tree has been cut. The Contractor shall take all necessary precautions to eliminate damage to adjacent trees, shrubs, lawns, curbs, walks, and other real or personal property. The Contractor shall use ropes or Mechanical equipment for lowering cut branches when necessary to prevent damage to trees, conductors, fences, cars, and other property. Any damage caused by the Contractor, including, but not limited to, broken sidewalk, curb, rutted lawn, broken water shut-offs, wire damage, building damage, street damage, etc., will be repaired or replaced in a timely manner to the college's satisfaction and all costs paid by the Contractor. No hangers shall be left in the trees after removal is completed. Trees shall be cut off as close to the ground as possible. In no case will the remaining stump be more than four (4) inches off the existing ground. Stumps shall be flush and level without pointed wood fibers projecting upward. Tree Stump Grinding: The Contractor shall mechanically grind stumps and roots to a depth that severs the roots from the bole of the stump or to a minimum depth of twenty-four inches from the finished grade of the stump beyond the basal flare, commonly referred to as the root flare, the purpose of which is to facilitate the proper restoration of the landscape. The stump grindings strewn on the street or sidewalk shall be removed and placed as follows: The contractor shall remove all stump grindings from the area; bring in dirt to fill holes; level and grade the site with four (4) inches of loam; seed with native grass; and then perform a final cleanup. Tree Trimming: All pruning and trimming shall be performed in accordance with the provisions of ANSI A 300 "Standard Practices for Tree, Shrub, and other Woods Plant Maintenance." Work requirements and logistic: The Contactor shall make all necessary arrangements with the District for utilities that must be protected or relocated in order to accomplish the work. If the Contractor should damage any equipment, the Contractor shall notify Facilities personnel. The Contractor shall clean and remove all debris from tree trimming, tree removal, ground clearing and stump removal operations each day before the work crew leaves the site. Areas are to be left in a condition equal to, or better than, that which existed prior to commencement of forestry operations. The Contractor will provide all traffic control. The Contractor shall be responsible for the cost associated with this service. Blocking of streets shall not be permitted unless authorized by Maintenance & Operations. QUALITY OF WORK All work is to be quality work and shall be performed according to the standards of the industry and according to the plans, directions and instructions as presented by the authorized representatives of Mt. San Antonio College and must meet all applicable building codes. Request for Information Cut Off:October 11, 2024, 5:00pm
