Renovation of a library in Rockville Centre, New York. Completed plans call for the renovation of a library.
Unsuccessful bidders who request more than one (1) set of the plans and specifications will be partially reimbursed for extra sets in accordance with General Municipal Law 102 if returned in good condition, with no handwritten notations thereon, within thirty (30) days following the award or rejection of the bids. Any person or corporation who fails to submit a bid will receive the return of a single deposit less reproduction costs if returned in good condition, with no handwritten notations thereon, within thirty (30) days following the award of the contract or rejection of the bids. Each Bidder must deposit, with their sealed bid, security in an amount not less than 10% of the base bid and all Alternate Bids in the proper form subject to the conditions set forth in the Instructions to Bidders (Section 8). Attention of the Bidders is specifically directed to the prevailing wage rates to be paid under the contract, as well as to other provisions set forth in the bidding documents. Bidder will also be required to show, to the satisfaction of the ROCKVILLE CENTRE PUBLIC LIBRARY that they are carrying Workers' Compensation Insurance as required by law and all other Insurance in amounts not less than that specified under the General Conditions. Performance Bonds Labor/Material Bonds and Maintenance Bond, as called for in the General Conditions are a requirement of each contract. This invitation is an offer to receive bids for a contract. The successful Bidder will be required to execute a formal contract in the form contained in the Contract Documents. Bids received after the time stated in the Notice to Bidders will not be considered and will be returned unopened to the bidder. The bidder assumes the risk of any delay in the mail or in the handling of the mail by employees of the PUBLIC LIBRARY. Whether sent by mail or by means of personal delivery, the bidder assumes responsibility for having its bid deposited on time at the place specified. Each Bidder shall agree to hold their bid price for (45) days after the formal bid opening. Per Article 8, Section 220 of the New York State Labor Law, every contractor and sub-contractor shall submit to the PUBLIC LIBRARY within (30) days after issuance of its first payroll, and every (30) days thereafter, a transcript of the original payroll record, as provided by this article, subscribed and affirmed as true under penalties of perjury. The PUBLIC LIBRARY shall be required to receive and maintain such payroll records. The ROCKVILLE CENTRE PUBLIC LIBRARY reserves the right to reject any or all bids submitted, to waive any informality or irregularity in any bid, and/ or to accept any bid in whole or in part and/ or to award or not award the contract, if in the opinion of the ROCKVILLE CENTRE PUBLIC LIBRARY, the best interest of the PUBLIC LIBRARY will thereby be served. The work of this Specification consists of contracts as listed in the Notice to Bidders. The location of the facilities involved is as follows ROCKVILLE CENTRE PUBLIC LIBRARY 221 North Village Avenue Rockville Centre, New York 11570 (516) 766-6257 SEQUENCE OF WORK A. In accordance with Article 3(A) of the General Conditions, in the event of a strike, picketing, work stoppage, slowdown, or other disruptive activity at the Project for any reason by anyone employed or engaged by Contractor to perform its portion of the work , the Contractor shall be responsible for providing the manpower required to proceed with the work under any circumstance. B. The Contractor shall control the safe handling and storage of all welding materials, acetylene and oxygen tanks, and other equipment required for welding and cutting work at the job site. C. Ascertain location of utilities inside and outside of building before commencing demolition work of any kind. D. Take precautions to protect the adjacent spaces from flying or falling debris. (Please see Article 7, H) E. The work shall be done with due care. The Contractor will be held responsible for any damage which may be caused thereby to any part or parts of existing structures or to items designated to remain. Before proceeding with demolition and removal work, ascertain need for and accomplish any required protection measures. Embedded anchorage and attachments shall be removed to permit proper patching. F. Where removal work occurs or where new and old work join, the immediate adjacent surfaces or, so much thereof as it is required by the involved conditions shall be cut, removed, patched, repaired or refinished and left in as good a condition as existed prior to the commencing of the work. The materials and workmanship employed shall conform to that of the original work. G. Where materials or construction are to be applied or attached to existing surfaces or construction, the Contractor will be held to have examine such surfaces or construction and to have included, in his bid, all costs for preparatory work on such surfaces or construction as necessary to permit the proper execution of the required work. H. In accordance with article 4(P) of the General Conditions, the Contractor shall keep the premises and surrounding area in which it is working free from accumulation of waste materials or rubbish caused by the performance of all of the work being performed on site and in the building I. No work shall commence before 8:00 a.m. weekdays. (Please see Article 4, G.)
