SUNY Upstate Medical University is seeking qualifications for the full design services (programming, design, construction documents, bidding, and construction administration), of an architect / engineering to address the following: It has been determined that the current kitchen infrastructure, including electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and IMT (data and telephone), has reached the end of its useful life and must be thoroughly reviewed. Unfortunately, there is no way to phase this renovation project. Therefore, a temporary kitchen must be set up to renovate the current kitchen. As part of this renovation, the following items will need to be replaced: the office space will be renovated to create a new call center, the HVAC system will be updated (AHU's S3A and FCU3), the existing exhaust hood will be updated and relocated, All underground drain piping will be inspected and replaced due to age, the existing electrical panels will be replaced (totaling five panels), all Coolers and freezer will need to be replaced, the Dry goods storage rooms needs updating, new cooking equipment will be added to complement the new service line, and IMT (data and Telephone) will be upgraded for the new C-Board menu systems and Tray monitor software. Due to the need to renovate the kitchen, we'll have to set up a Temporary Kitchen in the dining room. To make this happen, we need to do the following: build a 2-hour wall to separate the dining room from the Temporary Kitchen area and install temporary power for all kitchen equipment, including sinks, water lines, drain lines, gas lines, and cooking exhaust fans. We'll be reusing some of the existing equipment in the Temporary Kitchen, and we'll also purchase new equipment to replace older equipment that won't be reused once the new kitchen is completed. The design of this project will be 180 days with the anticipated construction of 270 days for the total consultant services of 720 days. This includes approximately 270 days for bidding and contracting. There will be no formal site visit nor will tours of the facility be given prior to the receipt of responses to the RFQ.
