The City of New Bern is seeking the services of qualified firms for the right-of-way clearing for proposed power lines. Project Location Along US 70 approximately 0.15 miles south of Carolina Pines Boulevard to approximately 0.25 miles north of Old Cherry Point Road. This work is part of the NCDOT R-5777C road improvements project. Project Summary The City of New Bern is seeking the services of qualified firms soliciting bids for right-of-way clearing for a proposed power line. Project Scope The work will include clearing all vegetation in a thirty feet wide right-of way along the length of the project and guy pockets at angle locations in the line. The centerline of the right-of-way will be staked by the General Contractor for the DOT project. Most of the work is to the East of US 70 but a portion is West of US 70. The work will be divided into three stages. Bids will be taken on each of the three stages. The bids will be evaluated on the total of all three stages. (The purpose for the bidding in stages, is because NCDOT will not acquire all right-of-way at the same time.) If the right-of-way is not acquired for the next stage prior to completion of the prior stage, there may be a delay when the clearing cannot proceed to the next stage. All vegetation is to be cleared to ground level inside the right-of-way. Vegetative debris are to be either: removed from the work area for proper disposal offsite, or chipped and spread on-site.
