GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The project is located on UC San Diego Health s East Campus and is part of the University s ongoing seismic compliance efforts. The project consists of a seismic retrofit at UCSD East Campus, upgrading associated structures to SPC-4D compliance and enhancing non-structural performance components to NPC-4, NPC-4D, and NPC-5 compliance. Work includes new structural components (concrete shear walls, fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) strengthening, shotcrete bands, foundation modifications, etc.), bracing of MEP systems, underground storage tanks, mechanical and electrical upgrades to improve resilience and compliance. Portions of this work may require abatement of lead and asbestos containing materials. The retrofit ensures critical facilities meet regulatory requirements for maintaining operational functionality for acute care services beyond 2030.
