Demolition, site work, paving and new construction of a bridge / tunnel in Marion, Virginia. Completed plans call for the construction of a bridge / tunnel; for the demolition of a bridge / tunnel; for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and for paving for a bridge / tunnel.
The Project is located on Route 660 in Smyth County, Virginia. It includes the demolition and full replacement of the existing Route 660 bridge structure (currently closed to traffic) over Norfolk Southern Railroad (NSRR). Route 660 is anticipated to be realigned to facilitate construction of the new bridge structure over NSRR. The new structure will have increased vertical and horizontal clearance to meet railroad requirements and account for future expansion of the railroad by accommodating an additional set of tracks within the clearance zones. This project will improve quality of travel for various stakeholders.
