It is the largest public transit system within a 110-mile radius and the District's boundaries includes 160 square miles within the Bakersfield city limits as well as adjacent unincorporated areas. District's Administration and Vehicle Maintenance facility is located at 1830 Golden State Ave. Bakersfield, CA. 93301. 2.0 Primary Objective Golden Empire Transit is seeking proposals for the replacement of five downdraft evaporative coolers. The existing evaporative coolers are located on the roof of the Vehicle Maintenance Department at 1830 Golden State Ave, Bakersfield, California. 93301. The existing coolers are operated in severe duty service due to the Maintenance Department operating 24 hours 7 days a week. Therefore, the coolers shall be a heavy-duty industrial design. Evaporative Cooler Requirements Housing: The interior and exterior housing shall be constructed from heavy-duty rust resistant materials such as stainless steel, galvanized, fiberglass or coated steel. The bottom shall be a one-piece design and corrosion resistant. The frame must be a welded design with rust proof hardware. The housing shall have removable panels to allow access to service of the motor, belt(s), bearings, water pump and other serviceable components. Cooler Size: The 5 coolers shall be large enough to sufficiently cool a 15,000 square foot metal maintenance building with a 20 foot ceiling height. Roof Jacket: The contractor shall remove and install a new roof jacket for each new cooler. The roof jacket shall be of heavy-duty design with tapered sides to keep water from pooling around the roof jacket. The roof jacket shall be sized appropriately for the new evaporative cooler and new roof panels reinstalled properly, so there are no water leaks. Ducting: The evaporative coolers shall be connected to the existing ductwork. Any deteriorated sheet metal connections between the roof jacket and existing ductwork shall be replaced. Blower: The blower (fan) shall be a centrifugal type. The discharge mode shall be in a down position. The fan shaft shall have a solid steel shaft with self-aligning type bearings on each end and serviceable with lubrication zerks. The blower wheel shall be statically and dynamically balanced
