All prime contractors, including certified MBE firms, when submitting bids or proposals as general or prime contractors, are required to attempt to achieve this goal from certified MBE firms. The subgoals established for this project from African American-owned businesses and women-owned businesses are noted above. Notwithstanding any subgoals established above, the Bidder is encouraged to use a diverse group of subcontractors and suppliers from any/all of the various MBE classifications to meet the remainder of the overall MBE participation goal. The replacement school comprises a three (3) story classroom wing with one (1) story support spaces included Gymnasium, Cafeteria/Kitchen, and building service areas, totally approximately 109,237 sf. The three (3) story area will be constructed as steel frame construction with masonry veneer and metal wall panel construction, while the one (1) story support spaces will be constructed as masonry load bearing with masonry veneer. Windows are primarily aluminum storefront assemblies. The roof will be TPO membrane roofing with minimum R-30 roof insulation over metal roof decking. The existing Middle school/site will be occupied by students, staff and the public throughout the duration of the Work. Work of the project will occur in multiple phases. Generally, the new construction consists of steel bearing superstructure and metal deck, masonry veneer, single-ply membrane roofing, aluminum storefront systems, and interior finishes along with the specified mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection systems.
