Renovation of a museum in New London, Connecticut. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a museum.

Fort Trumbull Study, Design, and Planning for HVAC Controls System Upgrade The purpose for this Invitation to Bid (ITB) is to solicit bids for a planning, study, and design documents for and Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning upgrade at Fort Trumbull in New London, Connecticut. Fort Trumbull is a state park with buildings on the national register of historic places that has been open to the public as a state park owned by DEEP since 2000. There are exhibit spaces within the Fort which are currently not able to be accessed by the public due to mold. Other buildings on the site have storage, office space, and exhibits which are open to staff or the public, and are in need of an overhaul to provide a more comfortable and sustainable environment. Some smaller projects have been undertaken to bring the buildings equipment to functional levels, but a broader more unified approach is desired in order to maintain the historic features and increase the quality of the environment for the visiting public. The DEEP State Parks Division has renovated some of the buildings on site since they have taken over ownership with new HVAC equipment, but the majority is old or limited in functionality and efficiency. There is a state directive to move away from combustion sources of heating. It is anticipated that this project will comply with the spirit of the directive and will look into sustainable options. There are currently mold and lead containing materials which are in the process of being abated. The abatement work is anticipated to occur during the design and planning phase. Coordination with DEEP to ensure all areas are safe to access may be needed during this planning phase. Some areas of the site may be off limits during this abatement effort, but the extent and timing is currently unknown. Questions and clarification of aspects within this ITB shall be addressed to DEEP.engineering@ct.gov. ATTN: Connor Campbell, Engineer Trainee, no later than October 30, 2024 at 2:00 pm. All questions and corresponding clarification / answers shall be posted to CT Source. The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time.
