The Pensacola Living Shoreline Project consists of the construction of multi-site shoreline in District 2 of Escambia County, Florida. This project consists of Sites B and C. Site B (Magazine Point or NAS Eastern Shore located at eastern shore of NAS requires an estimate of 33,000 tons of rock, 175,000 cubic yards of sand to be installed and 65 acres of saltmarsh and submerged aquatic vegetation habitat to be restored. Site C (Sherman Inlet) located at Southern shore of NAS requires an estimate of 57,000 tons of rock and 390,000 cubic yards of sand to be installed and 20 acres of shoreline habitat and 29 acres of submerged aquatic vegetation habitat to be restored. Coordination with NAS will be required of the selected firm. All personnel working within these areas will need to meet NAS Pensacola access and requirements and will require approval from NAS Pensacola for access. Coordination with Naval Air Station (NAS) Steve Opalenik stephen.j.opalenik.civ@us.navy.mil will be required for base access, lay down yard, etc. Drones will require pre-approval from NAS to utilize. The contractor will complete a preconstruction and post construction survey of each site. Surveys will need to be provided to the Engineer of Record Mike Warnke at mike.warnke@volkert.com and County Surveyor Joe Barrett at jebarrett@myescambia.com for written approval. Final project quantities will be determined from the survey data.
