Site work for a bridge / tunnel in Lyndeborough, New Hampshire. Working plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel.
**As of December 16, 2024 project has been canceled. As of this time it is unknown if and when project will rebid. The Town of Lyndeborough is accepting bids for a culvert replacement project on Herrick Road. Contractor to Provide: Name, address, and contact information, certificate of insurance, total bid price, breakdown of bid proposal including an estimation of all material to be used and all equipment needed to perform the work, estimated start date and number of days to complete said job. Please also include where materials will be supplied from. For this project, the town of Lyndeborough will: Oversee the entire project Report the culvert replacement under the CMP (Certified Culvert Maintainer) program Notification to residents & public, when work will start, updates as needed and when the project will be complete All safety signage Provide 1-ton sandbags, if needed, to create a dam in the outlet and inlet to be able to "work in the dry" Prior to work being started, the Town of Lyndeborough will reset the 2 overflow culverts to the proper depth for this work area. Final finish grade of the road. Assist the contractor if needed The contractor will provide: All materials needed for the project: o Precast Concrete culvert headwalls w/Wings & concrete headwall footings o 40' of 48" culvert, N-12 corrugated culvert pipe (HDPW) high-density polyethylene o All aggregate: gravel and stone. Note all gravel or stone, shall be equal to NH DOT Specifications. o Erosion control on both sides of the project, to contain all runoff. This is for both sides while the culvert is being changed and after the work is completed until the area is stabilized. Contractor- Scope of work All work shall be done at the driest part of the year, usually between July and august. The time can be adjusted if drier conditions allow. The project shall be performed complying with all state regulations Contractor shall give 2 weeks' notice to the town, before starting work, unless a sooner date is agreed upon in writing. Prior to work starting, install erosion control on both sides of the project, extending far enough to control silting, runoff and sediment etc. Responsible for any damning and dewatering necessary to complete repairs to the site. Install temporary sandbagging to create damming on both the inlet and outlet, so work can be performed in the "dry". Before work is started, the temporary dam should be checked and inspected by the Road Agent and contractor. Water pumps should be available on site in the event of pop up severe weather events to ensure area stays in the dry. Inspection points: o Inspection and acceptance of the retention (damming) structures prior to any work starting o Old culvert removal. o New culvert base material installed/completed (prior to new culvert being installed). o Inspect base material prior to headwall footings being installed o Inspection of headwall installation o New culvert installation and connected into the 2 head walls. Inspection to take place prior to any backfilling o Once backfilling commences, Lyndeborough DPW rep to witness the compaction in lifts. DPW rep to stay on site while being performed. o Final grade around headwalls o Rough grade of road o Completion of the project Important Note- Excavate, trying not to damage, and remove the old "road plate" buried above the culvert. Contractor to re-use old gravel pulled from site if material meets spec. Install the new culvert, inlet and outlet headwall footings, inlet and outlet headwalls according to the manufacturer's specifications. Backfill around the culvert, compacting in 6" lifts Install rip-rap around the slopes of the wingwalls Restore road surface to the proper height and rough grade Final inspection and acceptance of the completed job
