Clemson University is seeking a qualified contractor to update the electrical system at the Pee Dee Rec Greenhouse complex located in Florence, SC. Contractor will update complex with LED lighting; replace electrical outlets, switches, and thermostats. Some minor wiring repairs required. 1. Replace existing light switches, switch covers, outlets, outlet covers, and thermostats. Map breakers. 2. Remove all existing lighting. Provide and install new LED grow lights and LED shop lights. All new lighting shall be hardwired. a. Greenhouse complex currently has fluorescent lighting. Bay 6 has 6 plug-in style LED grow lights installed below fluorescent lighting. Hardwire these LED grow lights and reinstall after removing the fluorescent lighting. 3. Correct electrical issue in Bay 6 and Bay 12. Remove cables and outlets to correct electrical violation. 4. Materials and labor shall be warrantied for 1 year unless otherwise noted. 5. Greenhouses are currently in use. No bay shall be without power for more than 72 hours at a time. Clemson will provide a dumpster for general construction debris. Lamps, ballasts, and thermostats containing mercury shall be saved and set aside for Clemson to dispose of properly. Clemson will provide cardboard tubes for lamps and other containers as appropriate. Components not specifically mentioned but necessary to furnish a complete unit ready for use shall also be included. The absence of detailed specifications or the omission of detailed descriptions shall be recognized as meaning that only the best commercial practices are to prevail, and that only first-quality materials and workmanship are to be used. All interpretations of the specifications shall be made from this statement. It is understood that the specifications or references to available specifications shall be sufficient to make the terms of such specification binding on the Contractor. The Contractor's performance of the work shall comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules and regulations. The Contractor shall give required notices, procure necessary governmental licenses and inspections, and pay without burden to Clemson University all fees and charges in connection therewith unless specifically provided otherwise. In the event of a violation, the Contractor shall pay all fees and penalties, including attorney's fees and other defense costs and expenses in connection herewith. The Contractor shall provide and pay for all materials, tools, equipment, labor, and professional and non-professional services, and shall perform all other acts and supply all other things necessary, to fully and properly perform and complete the work. Alternates or approved equals are allowed. Products are to meet or exceed specifications and requirements as detailed in Section III Scope of Work/Specifications. If an alternate is being offered, it shall be equal or an approved equal as determined by Clemson University. Any reference to brand names, trade names, model numbers, or other descriptions particular to specific brand products is made to establish a required level of quality and functional capabilities; it is not intended to exclude other products of that level. Comparable products of other manufactures will be considered if proof of comparability is contained in the bid submission.
