Demolition and site work for a residential development in Clinton, Iowa. Completed plans call for the demolition of a residential development; and for site work for a residential development.
This project involves the partial demolition of the following dangerous structure according to the contract documents and specifications 1. 480 So.3rd St This project and all activities must be in compliance with the attached Cleanup Plan. The low bidder is encouraged to apply for the Iowa DNR 10-Day Notification as soon as possible after the City Council awards the contract on November 12, 2024. The above work shall be commenced as soon as possible after the contract and bond have been approved by the City Attorney and have been signed by the Mayor and City Clerk. The notice to proceed for this project shall be issued on or before November 27, 2024, as soon as all contract documentation has been approved by the City Council. Work can begin on November 27, 2024. All demolition work must be fully complete on or before April 30, 2025, and all site work must be fully completed on or before May 30, 2025. Liquidated damages shall be per the Special Conditions. Each Bidder shall accompany its bid with bid security as defined in Iowa Code Section 26.8, as security that the successful Bidder will enter into a Contract for the work bid upon and will furnish after the award of Contract a corporate Surety Bond, in a form acceptable to the City of Clinton, for the faithful performance of the Contract, in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the amount of the Contract. A bid bond in the amount of five percent (5%) of the bid amount as security that the bidder whose proposal is accepted will enter into a contract for the above, and will provide the required bonds, with sureties to be approved by the City Council, which respective sum will be retained by the said City as agreed liquidated damages in case the successful bidder fails to enter into a contract within ten (10) calendar days after award of the contract and post bond satisfactory to the City insuring the faithful fulfillment of the contract and maintenance. Each successful Bidder will be required to furnish a corporate Surety Bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of its Contract price. Said Bond shall be issued by a responsible surety approved by the City of Clinton and shall guarantee the faithful performance of the Contract and the terms and conditions therein contained and shall guarantee the prompt payment of all material and labor, and protect and save harmless the City of Clinton from claims and damages of any kind caused by the operations of the Contract and shall also guarantee the maintenance of the improvement caused by failures in materials and construction for a period of two (2) years from and after acceptance of the Contract. The City of Clinton does hereby reserve the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, and to enter into such contract, or contracts, as it shall deem to be in the best interest of the City. Question Deadline 11/01/2024 at 12:00 PM CT All questions about the meaning or intent of the bidding documents are to be submitted to the City Engineer by email through the online bidding site. Interpretations or clarifications considered necessary by the City Engineer in response to such questions will be issued by addenda delivered to all parties recorded as having received the bidding documents. Questions received after the question cutoff date may not be answered. Only questions answered by addenda will be binding. Oral and other interpretations or clarifications will be without legal effect.
