Demolition, site work, paving and new construction of a bridge / tunnel in Thornton, Colorado. Conceptual plans call for the demolition of a bridge / tunnel; for the construction of a bridge / tunnel; for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and for paving for a bridge / tunnel.
This project will replace the existing culverts at Pecos Street for the Niver Creek Tributary M with a new increased capacity crossing. The existing culverts are severely rusted and at risk of failing. The capacity of the existing culverts is also causing flooding damage upstream. Mile High Flood District (MHFD) will be managing this project with Federal Heights as the requesting municipality and with Thornton participation. Federal Heights will be applying for a grant to fund this project. The 2024 and 2025 funding will be Thornton's portion of the local match for the project design and construction. As of November 21, 2024, this project is included in the city's 2024-2028 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). Construction is expected to begin towards the end of 2025. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
