Reference Number 0000280881 Question Acceptance Deadline 2024/11/07 02:00:00 PM MST Contract Term Additional Contract Term 3 years 2-year option, Max 5 year contract The University of Calgary has over 1,000 laboratories, engaged in research and teaching activities, across UCalgary campuses with a diverse range of chemical, biological, and radiological hazards. Over 100,000 chemical containers are present across more than 20 buildings on UCalgary campuses where there is a constant flux of containers (e.g. procured, inventoried, and needing disposal). Additionally, facility maintenance and development activities involve a narrower range of chemical hazards typical for ongoing building operations and construction. Such hazardous materials present a risk to people, property, and the environment and hazardous material response may be needed to mitigate losses resulting from an incident, exposure, or release to the environment. Emergency response may be complicated as it may involve fire- and flood-associated damages and migration of chemicals beyond the initial point of origin (e.g. between building floors) Services would include, but are not limited to: Hazardous material spill response (excluding asbestos) Decontamination of surfaces and equipment, including sensitive equipment Disposal of contaminated materials that cannot be decontaminated. Successful Proponents shall: Meet or exceed Alberta OH&S Act, Regulation and Code requirements supplemented by Alberta Asbestos Abatement Manual Guidelines, Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act, and Transportation of Dangerous Goods Comply with National Master Specifications, applicable building, and fire codes, and safety regulations Comply with University Asbestos Management Plan Standards and Procedures. Provide sufficient staff resources and be able to commit to pre-determined completion schedules as developed by the University. Act as a general contractor with the ability to provide and supervise sub-trades when called upon Work with the University to promote the health, safety, and well-being of its employees, students, visitors, and contractors. All workers, including Contractors, are required to meet or exceed the Alberta Occupational Health & Safety Act, Regulation & Code and conduct their activities in accordance with applicable University policies and procedures. Conform to the University's CASP (Contractor Accountability to Safety Program) requirements for workers of all contracted resources including prime contractors, general contractors, subcontractors, service contractors, and consultants. The CASP requirements clearly define & communicate the responsibilities of all workplace parties Insurance: the successful proponent is required to acknowledge that they have either Comprehensive or Commercial General Liability with insurers licensed in Alberta in an amount of not less than $5,000,000 per occurrence (annual general aggregate, if any, of not less than $5,000,000) insuring against bodily injury, personal injury, and property damage or loss. Such insurance(s) shall include (A) products and completed operations liability, (B) contractor's protective liability, and (C) blanket contractual liability. Automobile Liability Insurance covering all motor vehicles owned, non-owned, leased, operated, and/or licensed in the name of the Contractor used in the performance of this Agreement. The minimum limit is for combined bodily injury, death, and property damage. Minimum of $5,000,000 per occurrence. Contingent Automobile Transportation Pollution Coverage Minimum of $2,000,000 per occurrence. Environmental Impairment/Pollution clean-up Liability - $5,000,000 minimum per occurrence.
