The Town of Los Gatos is a popular destination in the South Bay for dining, shopping, and entertainment. With this mostly outdoor experience comes necessary refreshing of the sidewalk surfaces affected by the pedestrian traffic in the downtown vicinity. Power washing is needed in areas of the downtown: North Santa Cruz Ave. from Hwy 9 to Main St., Main St. from North Santa Cruz Ave. to the high school, University Ave. from Main St. to Elm St., the Library front patio, and the lower level a Parking Lot #4. Scope: The contractor shall be responsible for the following: The water used to perform pressure washing services shall be I00% recycled. Contactor will be required to submit proof of purchase of recycled water upon request. Contractor shall walk the area to identify storm drains prior to the start of the cleaning process. Contractor shall block or seal off any storm drain catch basin inlets, and sloping areas that release water to the storm gutter to prevent wash water from entering the storm drain system. Sandbag berms, wattles, or bermed mats shall be deployed as necessary so that water does not drain down streets, gutters or into storm drains. If feasible, wash water shall be directed to vegetated or graveled surfaces to penetrate into the ground. Storm drain protection shall be put in place before starting the washing process and shall be removed before leaving the site. Any cleaning products used shall be certified nontoxic and biodegradable and in no case shall be allowed to enter the storm drain system. All debris or sediment atop of catch basin covers shall be removed at the completion of the washing operation. Sidewalks shall be washed with 3500 PSI minimum cold-water washer. Recycled water used during cleaning shall be un-heated and shall be applied at ambient temperature. EPA approved degreasers shall be used where necessary and as authorized by the Town's designated Project Manager. Washing shall be conducted such that gum, debris and other stains are removed to the greatest extent practical.
