As of May 7, 2025, this project has been awarded and is expected to start in July of 2025. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: The City of Crescent City has been awarded $300,000 in funding through the Art in California Parks Grant Program to build 2-3 interpretive nodes, or public art features, for an exciting new project called the Tolowa Interpretive Walk. The Tolowa Interpretive Walk is part of a larger Beachfront Park construction project, currently underway, which will include several other new park elements such as a Bike Pump Track, ADA Playground, 1-mile Loop, Waterfront Plaza, and Amphitheater. The Tolowa Interpretive Walk was derived from extensive public outreach efforts during the design process for the Beachfront Park Master Plan and aims to correct one-sided histories by telling the Tolowa story from the Tolowa perspective. Years of planning have gone into the design of the Tolowa Interpretive Walk and the final steps are finally before us. The City is looking for a firm who can take the existing concept drawings, develop them into engineered construction documents, then fabricate and install the public art features. With this project, the City hopes to bring residents and visitors from every walk of life together to create a vibrant sense of community and connection to the space through art and culture.
