Equipment Replacement and Piping Modifications For the general construction including demolition of the existing belt press, procurement and installation of the new belt filter press with associated modifications of mechanical piping and electrical systems, and replacement of existing sludge transfer pump. Work includes control system modifications and integration. The project site is located at 5300 Sixth Street, Carpinteria, CA 93013. Description of Work This project involves demolition of the existing belt press, procurement and installation of the new belt press with associated modifications of mechanical piping and electrical systems, and replacement of existing sludge transfer pump. Work includes control system modifications and integration. The Engineer's Estimate is approximately $1,250,000. Contract Time Contract time for completion of the Work shown in the Bidding Documents is 550 Calendar Days. Once the work is started, it must be continuously performed until completion. Liquidated Damages Liquidated damages for avoidable delays is $2,000.00 per consecutive day in excess of the Contract Time. Bid Security Each Bid must be accompanied by cash, a certified or cashier's check or by a Bidder's bond as described in the Instructions to Bidders (the "Bidder's Security") as a guaranty that the Bidder, if awarded the Contract, will (i) execute the Contract in accordance with the Bid as accepted by the District, (ii) furnish the required payment and performance. bonds and bonding company documentation, (iii) provide satisfactory evidence that the Bidder's Project Manager, and all other designated employees meet the experience and certification requirements in this Notice Inviting Bids, and (iv) provide satisfactory Performance Bond, Payment Bond and Warranty The Bidder that is awarded the Contract (the "Successful Bidder") is required to obtain the insurance required by the Contract Documents and to furnish a faithful performance bond and a payment bond which must each be at least 100% of the total amounts payable by the terms of the Contract. The faithful performance bond must provide that it remain in full force and effect during the life of any guarantee or warranty required under the Contract. Prevailing Wages Bidders are reminded that they must comply with the provisions of the California Labor Code pertaining to the payment of prevailing wage rates (Labor Code 1770 et seq.). Pursuant to Labor Code $1773.2, a copy of the prevailing per diem rates of wages in Ventura County is on file at the District's principal office. A copy of these rates of wages will be made available to any interested party upon request. The Successful Bidder is required to post a copy of the determination of the prevailing wage schedule at each job site. 11 Bidder's Licenses and Experience Each Bidder must be licensed by the California State License Board as a Class A General Engineering Contractor at the time of submitting the Bid or the Bid will be rejected. In the event a Bid is submitted on behalf of a joint venture, each participant in the joint venture must possess a valid Class A California contractor's license at the time the Bid is. submitted. If the Successful Bidder is a joint venture, the Successful Bidder must obtain an appropriate license in the name of the joint venture within fifteen (15) Calendar Days of the date the District mails the notice of the award to the Successful Bidder. Owner's Rights The District reserves the right to reject any and all Bids, waive minor informalities or irregularities not affecting substantial rights, reject one part of a Bid and accept the other, and delay award of the Contract for a period of up to sixty (60) Calendar Days after the bid opening date. Award The District will review all submitted informal bids for completeness. A review meeting will be held with the Contractor submitting the lowest informal bid to affirm the project scope and to review contractor and subcontractor qualifications. If the lowest bid is responsive and the submitting Contactor is qualified to execute the Work, a construction contract in the form attached will be presented to the District's Board of Directors for approval and award. Submission of an informal bid constitutes Contractor's willingness to execute the construction contract. Bidders should carefully review all provisions of the contract, including its requirement for furnishing of the required bonds for public works contracts in excess of Twenty-Five Thousand Dollars ($25,000.).
