The 9-story, 545,000-square-foot expansion will house 347 patient beds, including 44 intensive care unit (ICU) beds, 200 medical-surgical beds, 20 neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) beds, and 36 mental health beds. The centerpiece of the medical center’s 1.3-million-square-foot campus redevelopment, the new tower is also part of a Level 1 trauma center and is designed to achieve LEED Gold certification for environmental sustainability. The design-build team on the project will also include Hensel Phelps (Greeley, Colo.) and CO Architects (Los Angeles). _____________________________ The Generator Building Retrofit Project at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center involves the replacement and modernization of the existing generator switchgear and associated electrical infrastructure to ensure reliable emergency power distribution for the new Inpatient Tower (IPT) and Central Utility Plant (CUP). The project is a multi-increment, multi-phase HCAI-regulated construction effort, requiring careful shutdown coordination, phased implementation, and compliance with incremental Temporary Interim Occupancy (TIO) approvals. Scope includes, but limited to, installation of new 12kV switchgear, conduit and ductbank infrastructure, seismic upgrades, and system commissioning, with stringent requirements for continuity of hospital operations, impact mitigation, and regulatory compliance. The 12KV Switchgear and associated SEL relays and controllers as noted on the drawings are Owner Furnished-Contractor Installed. The project also includes the installation of two new fuel tanks to meet the HCAI NPC-5 requirements. Estimate:$15,000,000 Question Deadline 03/21/2025 All questions about the meaning or intent of the Contract Documents shall be submitted to the Department in writing. Replies will be issued by Notice to Bidders. Questions received less than ten (10) calendar days prior to the date for opening of bids will not be answered. The County reserves the right to reject any or all bids or to waive technical errors and discrepancies in bids submitted in the public interest.
