This Design Build project, within Building 3124 located on the Dry Side of Naval Base San Diego, will renovate and modernize twelve (12) restrooms, arranged in four stacks of three, and one (1) restroom, (designated Restroom 0), located in the center of the first-floor central wing. Each of the restrooms within the stacks are arranged the same, with slight variations from male to female designated restrooms. Each restroom shall be designed to service 40 personnel. The scope will consist of the demolition of all mechanical, electrical, and architectural systems within the envelope of the room, with the exception of the existing electrical panel, and the complete design and build out of new restroom facilities. Each restroom shall be designed to provide adequate water closets and urinals (where applicable), as well as showers, changing areas, and sinks, to accommodate rooms serviced. Restroom shall be designed such that the shower and changing areas are prohibited from view from entryway. Changing areas shall provide accommodations to store clothing and personal effects while shower is in use. The entryway associated with the existing electrical panel will be partitioned off, with the exterior door removed, creating a new electrical closet. The existing fire protection system will be modified as required to fit the new ceiling and layout. See attachment ‘B3142 Existing Plans’ for restroom layout reference. The project will consist of a base bid, consisting of two stacks of three (3) restrooms each, as well as the central restroom on the first floor, and two options. Each option will add a single stack of three (3) restrooms.
