The University of Alberta Utilities Department (UA Utilities) is seeking a qualified contractor to complete the structural rehabilitation the Utilities Heating Plant Loading Bay Floor located within the Universitys North Campus. The Heating Plants loading bay floor not only provides service access for operations but also structurally supports the Universitys District Energy System distribution piping. The scope of work for the structural rehabilitation of Heating Plants Loading Bay Floor is provided by the issue for tender (IFT) drawing package included with the RFP. The structural rehabilitation of the Heating Plant Loading Bay Floor, but is not limited to, the following: 1. Engineered bracing/shoring design for temporary support of the existing underside loading bay floor structure and mechanical utilities distribution piping 2. Installation of temporary bracing/shoring system(s) as per engineered design, including removal upon completion of new structural steel beam upgrades 3. Installation of temporary scaffolding and work platforms to enable the work and act as protection for existing infrastructure below 4. Concrete mix design as per structural package specifications 5. Temporary hoarding for cold weather protection and for dust control to protect Heating Plant operations equipment 6. Temporary fencing and barricades 7. Demolition and select removal of the existing concrete structure, including removal/disposal of excess material from site 8. Steel deck design as per structural package specifications 9. Concrete formwork for the new concrete slab, complete with structural rebar 10. Addition of new structural beams that will increase the structural floor design load 11. Provisions for a new drainage system complete with a floor sealant for the new loading bay floor The structural rehabilitation work will NOT INCLUDE temporary support for the electrical cabling that is currently supported from above by the loading bay floor structure. This scope will be completed by U of A Electrical Utilities with coordination from the contractor.
