Site work for a water / sewer project in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.

The work will be in accordance with the specifications prepared by Daniel Burke, P.E. Interim City Engineer and adopted by the City Council of the City of New Brunswick, NJ. Please note that there will be no in-person opening of the bids and all bids must be submitted by 10:00 a.m. on the designated day of the bid opening to the City Clerk's Office, 78 Bayard Street, New Brunswick, NJ 08901. Each bidder is required to bid each item on a fixed unit price basis, which will be maintained throughout the contract. Each bid shall be accompanied by a certified check, cashier's check or bid bond payable to the City Treasurer of the City of New Brunswick, as a guarantee that if the contract is awarded to the bidder, the bidder will enter into a contract therefore. The amount so deposited shall be ten percent (10%) of the bid, but in no case in excess of $20,000.00. N.J.S.A. 40A11-14, provides that the Governing Body of any municipality may provide the form and manner of approval of all guarantee, indemnity, fidelity or other bonds required. Bidders must comply with P.L.1963 Chapter 150 (Prevailing Wage), P.L.1975 Chapter 127, N.J.A.C. 17:27, N.J.S.A. 10:5-31 et seq., P.L. 1977 Chapter 33 and with P.L. 1999 Chapter 238. In addition, all bidders must comply with the Public Works Contractor Registration Act - N.J.S.A. 34:11-56.48 et seq., when applicable and comply with the Contractor Responsibility Certification and respond to the Disclosure of Investment Activities in Iran form. According to 40A:11-23, the City is prohibited from receiving bids on Mondays or any day directly following a State or Federal Holiday. The City Council of the City of New Brunswick reserves the right to reject any and all bids if in its opinion it is in the best interest so to do. THE ENVELOPE CONTAINING THE BID SHALL BE ADDRESSED TO: City Clerk 78 Bayard Street New Brunswick, NJ 08903 MARKED: Jones Avenue & Delavan Street Water System Improvements Specification No. 1005-24 The CONTRACTOR shall provide all labor, tools, material and equipment to replace pavement, curbs, drives and walks that have been damaged or disturbed during the course of the work, all as specified herein, as directed by the ENGINEER, or as required by local, county, state or federal regulations. Placement will be at least equal to the type of pavement, curb, drive, or walk which existed before the work began and to the satisfaction of the ENGINEER. During the entire period of construction of the project, all streets, curbs, drives and walks shall be kept in usable and safe condition for public use. Before final accep- tance, and after trench settlement has been corrected to the satisfaction of the ENGI- NEER, pavement, curbs, drives and walks designated by the ENGINEER shall be replaced with the type of replacement specified herein. The CONTRACTOR, where directed by the ENGINEER, shall furnish all labor, tools, material, and equipment necessary to spread and roll and/or tamp temporary bituminous pavement, complete, in place, and shall maintain the same all as specified or directed. The CONTRACTOR shall restore and replace shrubbery, fencing, sod or other disturbed surfaces or structures to conditions equal to that before the work began and to the satisfaction of the ENGINEER. In general, all areas disturbed by construction activity and not to be paved shall be topsoiled and seeded. All work shall meet the requirements of the Soil Conservation District and be in accordance with the "Standards for Soil Erosion and Sediment Control in New Jersey"; latest edition. The CONTRACTOR shall furnish all labor, materials and equipment and such additional work as may be required for curbing replacement ordered by the ENGINEER. All curbing replacement shall conform to the Contract Specifications and the Curb Replacement Details as shown on the Contract Drawings. All curbing replacement shall be done in strict accordance with the requirements of the City of New Brunswick, and Middlesex County depending on the roadway and it shall be the Contractor's responsibility to ascertain any specific requirements other than those denoted.
