Regional Refuse Disposal District #1 (the "District") is the Municipal Transfer Station for the Towns of Barkhamsted, New Hartford and Winchester and is soliciting proposals from qualified vendors to provide refuse and recyclables disposal services. The District is committed to environmentally responsible waste management practices and seeks a vendor who shares this commitment. The selected vendor will be responsible for receiving, processing, and properly disposing of the district's refuse and recyclable materials commencing July 1, 2025. The ideal vendor will have a proven track record in providing efficient, cost-effective services that meet or exceed all relevant environmental and regulatory standards. Scope of Services The successful vendor will provide the following services: o Acceptance of refuse and recyclables at a designated facility that is conveniently located and equipped to handle the district's waste volumes o Sorting and processing of recyclable materials using state-of-the-art technology and techniques to maximize recycling rates o Transportation and disposal of non-recyclable refuse in an environmentally responsible manner that minimizes environmental impact o Reporting on tonnage and composition of received materials in a timely and transparent manner to support the district's waste management goals.
