The City of St. Catharines is inviting general contractors to submit their qualifications to participate in an upcoming procurement process Project P23-138 Seymour Hannah Sports and Recreation Centre - Refrigeration Plant Replacement (SHA - Refrigeration). The Seymour Hannah Sports and Entertainment Complex is a four-pad arena in St. Catharines, Ontario which opened in 2005. The original ammonia refrigeration plant comprises of four screw-type compressors and a roof-mounted evaporative cooling tower, with a system capacity of approximately 500 TR. One of the four compressors has been replaced previously and will remain. The scope of the project will include the replacement of the three remaining original compressors, the replacement of the original evaporative cooling tower, piping/valving associated with the ammonia system, and system controls upgrades. The total extents of work will be outlined in the forthcoming contract documents as part of a Request for Tender. The total construction budget is approximately $2,000,000.00 plus HST. A request for tender will be released in December 2024. Construction is scheduled for June 2025 with a required completion in early August -2025. Respondents to this Request for Pre-Qualification will be evaluated on their ability to demonstrate the resources they possess to complete this project within the scheduled construction window.
