Reference Number 0000369574 The Alabama Space Science Exhibit Commission DBA U.S. Space & Rocket Center seeks proposals from qualified firms for the repainting of the 150' Tall Moon-Shot Amusement Ride and its supporting infrastructure located at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center, 1 Tranquility Base, Huntsville, AL 35805 Scope of Work: Pressure wash surfaces to be painted as to remove dirt and oily residue, using caution on the blue fiberglass shot tubes Stripe coat welds and rusty areas with epoxy penetrating sealant Stripe coat welds and rusty areas with surface tolerant epoxy primer Surfaces to be painted with two coats of High-Performance Urethane Work areas to be shielded to prevent overspray Small light bulbs that run vertically within Moon Shot are to be removed and discarded Handrails are to be taken down to bare metal during preparation Handrails are to be prepared with a rust encapsulate Handrails are to be primed with an Epoxy Primer Handrails are to be painted with a Urethane topcoat The Moon-Shot support building exterior CMU, door frames, and doors shall be included in scope All surfaces are to be color-matched to original non faded color All signage shall be removed before painting and reattached after Bids shall include estimated days to complete the project, assuming a February or March start date (weather/temperature variable) Blue painted areas shall be PPG 1158-7 or equivalent Red painted areas shall be PPG 7171 or equivalent White painted areas shall be pure white Job Site Clean Up: All material shall be removed from the workplace at the conclusion of a project. At the conclusion of a project the area shall be entirely free from materials, dirt, and dust. All discarded material shall be disposed of properly at the expense of the contractor.
