The location of this project is along the North wall of the Ames Water Treatment Plant located at 1800 E 13th St in Ames, Iowa. The work will entail excavation to remove the old drain valve. The top of the valve is located approximately 22 feet deep. There are existing utilities in the excavation area that will require locating should not require any modifications. All utilities in the area of this project will need to be protected from damage during the work, and any caution tape above the utilities will need to be replaced at the precise locations during backfilling. The removal of the old valve will require the City's Water Treatment Plant staff to drain the backwash recovery tank, so communication on the exact date and timing of the work will be coordinated. All work shall be in accordance with the specifications now available on online at online or on file in the Purchasing office of Ames, Iowa, which, by this reference are made a part hereof, as though fully set out and incorporated herein. The project site is the Ames Water Treatment Plant, 1800 E 13th St., Ames, Iowa 50010. The work is provide services for the removal and replacement of a broken 6-inch backwash recovery drain valve. If the accepted bid is over $25,000, the selected Contractor will be required to provide a performance and payment bond equal to the total bid amount. Contractor will include the cost of the performance and payment bond in the bid. Each successful bidder shall be required to furnish a corporate surety bond in an amount equal to 100 percent of its contract price. Said bond shall be issued by a responsible surety approved by the City's Risk Manager and shall guarantee faithful performance of the contract and terms and conditions therein contained and shall guarantee prompt payment of material and labor and protect and save harmless the City from claims and damages of any kind caused by operations of the contract and shall also guarantee the maintenance of the work in good repair for a period of one (1) year from and after the completion and acceptance by the City. The City does hereby reserve the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, and to enter into such contract, or contracts, as it shall deem to be in the best interest of the City.
