The City of Manassas is soliciting bids for services of an Airfield Electrical Contractor to install lit and unlit guidance signs at the Manassas Regional Airport. The Airport has all the new signage and transformers in stock for this project. SCOPE OF SERVICES 1. Background: The Manassas Regional Airport has forty-seven guidance signs, 42 lit signs and 5 unlit signs, that need to be replaced and installed to meet compliance under Federal Aviation Regulation Part 139. Project funding is being acquired through a grant funded through the Virginia Department of Aviation (VDA) at their February 2025 board meeting. The City needs to submit application for funding by December 20, 2024, thus the short ITB period. Once the funds are acquired and appropriated, the Contract and the Purchase Order can be issued to the Bidder. This budgeting and contract award process is anticipated to be finalized by the end of February 2025. Installation should be scheduled by the Contractor to start by mid-March 2025 and completed within forty-five (45) days. City Supplied Materials - The only materials being supplied by the City are the forty-seven (47) guidance signs and forty-two (42) transformers required for the existing circuits (6.6amp to 20amp). The guidance signs are full assemblies with bases only. No tethers, grounding rods, connector kits, or other materials are furnished. All of the guidance signs have already been delivered and the transformers are expected to be delivered in December. The Contractor shall furnish all labor, supervision, supplies, connector kits, heat shrink, tethers, conduit, dumpsters, equipment and tools, as necessary, to complete the installation of the following guidance signs. All plans specifications and signs locations are included as attachments to this bid. 2. Work: a. Install three (3) new lit City provided signs requiring cable with conduit run, cans, and precast or poured pads appropriately secured. i. Two (2) signs are standard Size 2 signs to be installed on Taxiway Bravo in the identified areas. ii. One (1) sign is a standard Size 1 sign to be installed on Taxiway Alpha in the identified area. b. Remove and replace thirty-nine (39) signs with new City provided signs. There may be some additional connections or wiring work needed as a number of the existing signs lack in illumination intensity compared to the other sign illumination levels for unknown reasons. c. Install five (5) unlit City provided vehicle roadway signs. These signs are Size 1 and will need housekeeping pads, tethers, and frangible bases. d. Of the above-mentioned thirty-nine (39) signs, the following seven (7) signs require housekeeping pads to be extended or replaced. There is a drawing attached on how to extend the bases. The City will also accept appropriately sized and secured precast slabs. The Contractor will need to supply all materials, concrete, rebar, and equipment necessary to complete the work.
