Site work and paving for a road / highway in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.

This contract provides for the Commission to issue Work Authorizations to the Contractor to perform roadway repairs as the need arises. The contract time period will extend from the date of Notice to Proceed to April 24, 2026. Work may include milling existing deteriorated wearing courses, repairing existing deteriorated binder courses, repairing concrete pavement in interchange areas, repairing shoulders, guide rail work, applying asphalt wearing course overlays to existing and repaired asphalt surfaces, and performing pavement drainage corrections. Major work items may include the following items: Class 1 Excavation Asphalt Pavement Patching, Various Types Superpave Wearing and Binder Courses Milling of Asphalt or Cement Concrete Pavement Surfaces Asphalt Concrete Curb Sealing Existing Asphalt Concrete Curb Sonic Nap Alert Pattern (SNAP) Pavement Markings Rock Armor, Modified Miscellaneous repairs may include other types of drainage or roadway work that are not associated with the items of work being bid. If the need arises for such work, prices to perform the work will be negotiated with Contractor for each work authorization. Quantities will be determined with each Work Authorization that is issued. An electronic bid bond, from an approved vendor, with corporate surety, in the amount of One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) must be submitted with the proposal as bid security. The bid security of the three (3) low bidders will be retained until the execution of the contract. (The normal time for execution of the contract is approximately four [4] weeks.) This work is the furnishing, installing, maintaining, resetting, relocating, storing, and removal of all traffic control devices necessary for Maintenance and Protection of Traffic during construction. This work consists of the removal and replacement of deteriorated asphalt and/or concrete pavement areas. (a) Concrete Pavement Patching - Repair deteriorated concrete pavement below asphalt pavement by removing the existing asphalt and concrete pavements and backfilling with superpave binder course, PG 64E-22, 19 MM Mix to the level of the existing adjacent surface. Repairs are to be a minimum length of 4 feet for the full width of the lane. (b) Asphalt Pavement Patching, Type A - Remove the existing asphalt material above the concrete pavement or to the level of adjacent concrete pavement and backfill with superpave binder course, PG 64E-22, 19 MM Mix to the level of the existing adjacent surface. Place superpave binder material without the use of a paving machine. Repairs are to be a minimum length of 4 feet to less than 20 feet. (c) Asphalt Pavement Patching, Type B - Remove the existing asphalt material above the concrete pavement or to the level of adjacent concrete pavement and backfill with superpave binder course, PG 64E-22, 19 MM Mix to the level of the existing adjacent surface. Place superpave binder material with a paving machine. Placement with a paving machine does not apply to the repair of longitudinal joints. Repairs are to be a minimum length of 20 feet. (d) Asphalt Pavement Patching, Type B Modified I or II - Remove the existing asphalt material above the concrete pavement or to the level of adjacent concrete pavement and backfill with superpave wearing course, PG 64E-22, 19 MM Mix to the level of the existing adjacent surface. Place superpave wearing material with a paving machine. Asphalt Pavement Patching, Type B Modified I is when the patch length is between 50 and 100 feet. Asphalt Pavement Patching, Type B Modified II is when the patch length is greater than 100 feet. Type I and Type II patches are to be utilized if the asphalt material over the existing concrete pavement is 4-inches or less. (e) Asphalt Pavement Patching with 9.5 MM Wearing Course, Type B Modified III - Remove the existing asphalt material above the concrete pavement or to the level of adjacent concrete pavement. Backfill with superpave binder course, PG 64E-22, 19 MM Mix to 1.5-inches below the adjacent surface. Place 1.5-inches of superpave wearing course, PG 64E-22, 9.5 MM Mix. Type III patches are to be utilized if the asphalt material over the existing concrete pavement is more than 4-inches and when the patch length is between 50 and 100 feet. (f) Asphalt Pavement Patching with 12.5 MM Wearing Course, Type B Modified III - Remove the existing asphalt material above the concrete pavement or to the level of adjacent concrete pavement. Backfill with super pave binder course, PG 64E-22, 19 MM Mix to 2-inches below the adjacent surface. Place 2-inches of superpave wearing course, PG 64E-22, 12.5 MM Mix. Type III patches are to be utilized if the asphalt material over the existing concrete pavement is more than 4-inches and when the patch length is between 50 and 100 feet. This work includes all labor, materials and equipment necessary for the placement and sealing of subbase under guide rail in areas as indicated in the individual Work Authorization or as directed by the Representative.
