The site area is located at the southwest termination of Centennial Circle (off of Military Trail). Located at the top of a bank the site has sweeping views of the forested ravines to the southwest. The building siting and construction must adhere to TRCA 'top of bank' setbacks and ravine protection requirements. The building itself is a two storey, 10,000sqft structure with the principal gathering spaces on the second floor to date advantage of the commanding views. The ground floor contains some office space, utility rooms, library, kitchen, lounge, and multi-purpose room. The second floor includes two meeting rooms, two gathering spaces and some storage space. There is a small mechanical room in the basement. Sustainability is a key principle of this project. Beyond the typical energy efficiency design standards that the University applies to all projects of this size and complexity, this project seeks to reduce green house gas emissions. Specialized design and construction principles and targets have been integrated into the project's development and execution. Carbon-based energy consumption is reduced by targeted design strategies such as passive heating and cooling and a highly efficient building envelope. Question Deadline - 01/03/2025 07:00:00 PM ET
