The Commissioners' Court of Hood County is seeking competitive sealed bids from highly qualified, experienced, and responsible firms for Street Surface Maintenance (One Course Chip Seal) to 27,505 square yards of Acton Highway in Hood County. After evaluation of completeness and qualifications, it will be awarded by the Commissioners' Court at a future Court date. Electronic Bids are preferred and can be submitted through Hood County's page on the website . It is free to register and to bid. Each submission shall be accompanied by a Cashier's Check or Bid Bond, acceptable to Hood County, in an amount not less than five percent (5%) of the total amount bid, as a guarantee that the successful bidder will enter into a proper Contract and execute the required Payment and Performance Bonds. Bid sureties will be returned, upon request, to all but the three lowest acceptable bidders within five days after the opening of Bids. Remaining bid sureties will be returned, upon request, after complete execution of the Contract. Hood County reserves the right to award by unit cost or lump sum discount and to waive formalities for the best interest of Hood County. Hood County reserves the right to reject any and all bids. All invoices shall be paid at the regular semi-monthly meeting of the Hood County Commissioner's Court. The Commissioners' Court of Hood County, the OWNER, is seeking competitive sealed bids from highly qualified, experienced, and responsible firms for One Course Chip Seal to Acton Highway in Hood County. 1. Location: Acton Highway starting at 1959 Acton Hwy and ending approximately 360' west of the intersection with FM 4 South. (See Exhibit 1) 2. Area: Acton Highway is approximately 9,520 total linear ft with a width of 26 ft. A total of 27,505 square yards (an area 450' X 33' included). Starting and ending points have been marked on the road. Bidders are responsible for verifying accuracy of measurements. 3. Materials: AC 20 XP and Grade #4 pre-coat aggregate. 4. Installation: One Course Chip Seal complete and in-place, including testing, material placement, rolling, patching, brooming. Surface treatment shall not be applied when the air temperature is below 60 degrees and falling but may be applied when the air temperature is 50 degrees and rising. The surface treatment shall not be applied when the temperature of the roadway surface is below 60 degrees Fahrenheit. 5. Required Prep: None. 6. Schedule: Work is to be completed between May 1st and June 30th, 2025, and once work commences, shall be completed without delay. 7. Contractor to Supply: all materials, supplies, tools, labor, and safety precautions necessary - including but not limited to traffic control and coordination necessary to complete the work. 8. Contractor's Representative: shall have a responsible local representative available at all times while the work is in progress under this contract. The Contractor shall be required to furnish the name, address, and telephone number where such local representatives may be reached during the time that the work contemplated by this contract is in progress. 9. Standards for Materials & Construction Methods: Refer to NCTCOG Public Works Constructions Standards and TxDOT 2024 Standard Specifications for Construction and Maintenance of Highways, Streets, and Bridges. 10.Pre-Bid Conference: None. 11.Examination of Work Site: Bidders are required, prior to submitting any proposal, to visit the site of the work, to examine carefully local conditions, to inform themselves by their independent research, tests and investigations of the difficulties to be encountered and judge for themselves the accessibility of the work and all attending circumstances affecting the cost of doing the work or time required for its completion, and to obtain all information required to make an intelligent proposal.
