The grants are from two programs – more than $684.3 million from the Airport Infrastructure Grant (AIG) Program included in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) and almost $1.1 billion from the Airport Improvement Program (AIP). Combining AIG and AIP funds, Florida received almost $175.1 million, the largest piece of FAA money this round. Florida awards include $23.5 million for taxiway reconstruction, airfield safety mitigation, marking and lighting at Sarasota Bradenton International Airport in Sarasota; $22.1 million for taxiway rehabilitation, lighting and marking at Orlando International Airport in Orlando; $20 million for runway rehabilitation and lighting at Palm Beach International Airport in West Palm Beach; and $13.9 million for terminal reconstruction at Orlando International Airport. ------------------ This project will relocate the existing vehicle service road outside the Runway Object Free Area.
