Site work, new construction and addition to a mixed-use development in Sarasota, Florida. Completed plans call for the addition of a library; for the construction of a 30,000-square-foot library; for site work for a library; 8,500-square-foot museum; museum; and museum.
The County History Center will be a 30,000+/- sf. new facility, providing residents and visitors access to collections, events, and spaces in an easy to reach location. This will provide access to genealogy collections and local history materials, along with digitization labs, program spaces for cultural and educational workshops, exhibition space for alternating collections, meeting rooms, conference rooms, and research areas. The facility will include specialized and comprehensive storage areas for different materials in accordance with prescribed archival and museum standards. The project also includes an allocation for an addition and renovation of the Fruitville Library. The addition of 8,500+/- sf. will provide a dedicated Creation Station (makerspace), Young Adult room, a redesigned Youth Area with a dedicated programing room, and additional Conference Room space with collaborative technology. The renovation of existing spaces will provide the ability to modernize and upgrade services. As of January 30, 2026, this project is under construction. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
