Renovation of a water / sewer project in Skokie, Illinois. Completed plans call for the renovation of a wastewater treatment plant.

Chemical Phosphorus Removal at the O Brien Water Reclamation Plant The estimated cost of the work under Contract 20-087-3P is between $ 15,949,033.20 and $19,306,724.40. Tenders are invited for the work consisting of furnishing all materials, labor, and equipment required to: 1. Furnish and install four (4) fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) chemical storage tanks with immersion-style heaters and insulation. I-2 Contract 20-087-3P INVITATION TO BID 2. Furnish and install two (2) foundations each with concrete secondary containment walls for the FRP storage tanks. 3. Furnish and install one (1) pre-engineered metal pump building on foundation to house chemical dosing pumps and accessories. 4. Furnish and install ten (10) chemical dosing pumps on five (5) separate skids, each skid with an associated master control panel. 5. Furnish and install CPVC and double-wall CPVC piping, valves, and heat tracing for outdoor portions from the truck unloading connection to the storage tanks, from the storage tanks to the pump buildings, and from the pump buildings to the dosing points, located in the influent channels of the final settling tanks in Batteries A, B, C and D. 6. Furnish and install two (2) emergency eye wash and shower stations in the pump buildings and lower Operating Gallery of Battery D supplied by two (2) tempered water skids and four (4) emergency eye wash and shower stations with heat tracing connected with two (2) tempered water skids in the chemical containment areas and at the truck unloading areas as shown. 7. The Contractor shall provide temporary natural gas service to the Process Water Building for the duration of the Contract. Refer to General Specifications - Mechanical for piping requirements. 8. Furnish, deliver, and install a temporary emergency eyewash station, with drenching hose, in the Process Water Building, Grainger Catalog No. 9XD46, or equivalent. 9. Furnish and install unit heaters, supply fans, exhaust fans, water heaters, tempered water skids, and utility sinks for the pump buildings. 10. Furnish and install instrumentation including, but not limited to, tank level gauges, orthophosphate analyzers, flow meters, and motorized flow control valves. 11. Modify existing DCS system programming and graphics to provide for the control and monitoring for the chemical storage and feed system, including integration of dosing pumps, level gauges, analyzers, and other instrumentation to the DCS. 12. Demolish and remove existing asphalt or concrete road, gravel and subgrade as required at each of the work sites. Provide new concrete roads, driveways and modifications to existing roads for truck delivery to the chemical storage containment areas and pump buildings. Restore surrounding site and existing pavement as needed. Grade and provide positive drainage around work sites. Restore landscape areas as indicated in Contract Documents. 13. Cut and cap existing utility lines as shown on the Contract plans. Furnish and install ductile iron piping (DIP) system and associated valves for potable and non-potable water lines to the pump buildings and chemical storage containment areas as shown. Disinfect potable water lines. 14. Furnish and install DIP sewer line connections as shown on the plans. I-3 Contract 20-087-3P INVITATION TO BID 15. Furnish and install power, communication, and lighting for the chemical feed buildings and containment areas. 16. Furnish and install power and connection to DCS for all equipment including chemical feed pumps, instrumentation, valves, and HVAC work. 17. Furnish and install conduit, feeder cables, control cables, distribution power panels, disconnect switches, junction boxes, etc., as shown on the Contract plans. 18. All other work as shown on the plans and as specified herein. The site of the proposed work is at the Terrance J. O'Brien Water Reclamation Plant, 3500 Howard Street, Village of Skokie, County of Cook, State of Illinois. The estimated cost of the work under Contract 20-087-3P is between $ 15,949,033.20 and $19,306,724.40. The work under this contract is classified as "Mechanical" for the MBE, WBE and VBE utilization goals contained in the Affirmative Action Ordinance Revised Appendix D and Appendix V. The associated goals are 15% Minority-owned Business Enterprises (MBE) and/or Women-owned Business Enterprises (WBE) and 3% Veteran-owned Business Enterprises (VBE). The MBE, WBE and VBE goals do not apply to the portion of the work identified in the contract as Allowance Items, Contingency Items and Unit Price Items nor to the portion of the work assigned to the DCS manufacturer (ABB) in the amount of $1,538,784.
