Site work and paving for a sidewalk / parking lot in Covington, Virginia. Completed plans call for site work for a sidewalk / parking lot; and for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot.
The work includes the demolition and removal of approximately 391 linear feet of concrete curb, 495 square yards of sidewalk (concrete) and driveway aprons (concrete), 134 square yards of asphalt pavement, 11 existing trees, 391 linear feet of concrete curb, 8 square yards of VDOT CG-12A, 167 square yards of VDOT CG-13, 419 square yards of concrete sidewalk, 32 square yards brick pavers, 5 sections of ornamental fencing, 134 square yards of riprap stone buffer strip, 3,693 linear feet of 4-inch pavement markings, 53 linear feet of 12-inch pavement markings, 20 directional arrow pavement markings, 5 handicap pavement markings, and 11 street trees. This work will occur within the Mid City Mall Parking lot between N Court Ave and W Locust St. Bid shall be on a firm unit price basis for each of the Bid Items identified in the Base Bid Schedule of the Bid Form. The Total Base Bid Price will be the cumulative sum of the extension of the bid quantities times the unit prices for each bid item. Each Bid shall be accompanied by bid security as described in the Instructions to Bidders. The Successful Bidder will be required to furnish performance and payment bonds as described in the General Conditions. Bidders are required under Section 54-1.1112 of the Code of Virginia to show evidence of Certificate of Registration before their Bid may be received and considered. The Bidder shall place on the outside of the envelope containing the Bid, the information required by the Instructions to Bidders. The qualifications, resources, and experience of the Bidder in the area of generator furnishing and install are essential for timely completion of this project. Qualification of Bidder shall also be in accordance with Article 1.3 of the Instructions to Bidders. Further, the Owner may make such other investigations as he deems necessary to determine the ability of the Bidder to perform the Work, and the Bidder shall furnish to the Owner all such information and data for this purpose as the Owner may request. The Owner reserves the right to reject any Bid if the evidence submitted by, or investigation of, such Bidder fails to satisfy the Owner that such Bidder is properly qualified to carry out the obligations of the Contract and to complete the Work contemplated therein. Owner reserves the full and unconditional right to waive irregularities and to reject any or all Bids. The Successful Bidder shall be determined on the basis of the lowest, responsive, and responsible proposal in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders. Bidders must certify that they do not or will not maintain or provide for their employees any facilities that are segregated on the basis of race, color, creed, or national origin. No Bid may be withdrawn for a period of 60 days after the date of bid opening except in accordance with Section 2.2-4330 of the Code of Virginia, as amended. The Owner, as Contracting Authority, has selected the first procedure for the withdrawal of bids as set forth in the section of the Code as cited above. In accordance with the Code of Virginia, Section 2.2-4343.1, the Owner does not discriminate against faithbased organizations or on any other basis prohibited by state or federal law. The Owner does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, or religion. The Successful Bidder must comply with the Presidents Executive Order #11246, prohibiting discrimination in employment regarding race, creed, sex, or national origin; the President's Executive Orders # 12138 and 11625 regarding utilization of MBE/WBE firms; the Davis-Bacon Act and comply with the provisions of Civil Rights Act of 1964. Bidders must certify that they do not or will not maintain or provide for their employees any facilities that are segregated on the basis of race, color, creed, or national origin.
